📁 Videos

Dog Shrink, 2020

Premiered on Hellavision Television Network's CURSED episode. 3D animated short featuring a pocket sized pup.

Immaterial Render, 2020

Rendering is fun, especially when it involves endless cake. But rendering takes work and a devastating environmental toll. Originally performed as a 5 minute PowerPoint presentation, then re-cut with added sound design elements.

TOXICAL m.a.a.r.s., 2018–19

Lead performance workshop and directed short film as part of the Mars Art Arc Research Station artist residency (@maarstation) in Joshua Tree, CA. We labored through planned and improvised performances using dystopic abandoned structures and waste materials found onsite. Paraffin wax (a byproduct of oil production) was melted, then formed into candles in the desert sand. At sunrise the candles were burned and evaporated.

Cacophonous Freefall, 2019

Premiered at the Trylon in Minneapolis as part of Hellavision Television Animation Show #7 and exhibited in the Limitless Spaces group exhibition at the MCAD MFA Gallery. My digital avatar enjoys a small patch of grass lost in a sea of concrete. Meanwhile a mysterious drone constructs a 3D scan from above and is heard by a nearby crowd. A precious object is shattered.

Behind the clouds it’s lovely, 2016

Solo show in the Minneapolis College of Art and Design’s Black Box Gallery. The screens form an interconnecting network of graphic ideas: personal metadata, unencrypted communication, corporate profit, and government spying. Each screen contributes different sounds to the room that compose a glitchy, brooding soundscape.

Preamble, 2014

Video effects and application developed in Processing. Audience members open the app on their personal laptops to a waiting screen. When deployed remotely a video plays simultaneously across screens, concluding with the remote activation of each user’s webcam.

BETA Newsprint, 2016

Exhibited in Minnesota Mean (Guerrilla Girls Takeover) at MCAD’s Main Gallery. Collaboration with David W. Johanson, Stephen Lurvey, Frank Mondragón, and Nouhtrang Thao. Newsprint publication that explores how to define the post-digital era. The aesthetic of traditional newspapers merges with the chaos of the web. Poetry hides in the terms of the service. An anti-surveillance ad campaign runs rampant. Edition of 1,000.

Cloud Talk Back, 2016

An existential crisis occurs in the desert and a cathartic message is delivered to the clouds. Edition of 50. Download the entire publication.

Internet Yami Ichi, 2015

Collaboration with Anna Neva for the Internet Yami Ichi Black Market event at the Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond in Amsterdam on the 9th and 10th of May. A0 size poster.

Unmapping the World, 2015

Finalist in the CIG Chaumont Student Competition, 2015. Collaboration with Amaya Hagelaar and Elena Shkarupa. Global power structures proclaim the idea of world unity and vanishing borders, when in reality 32% of the world is engaged in territorial disputes over land. The maps visualize the scale of the problem and bring attention to each dispute. A0 poster, double sided. “Étudiants, Tous à Chaumont!”

Look over here, circle circle dot dot, 2014

A risograph anthology that explores post-digital existence in the age of immediacy, hypermediacy, and remediation. Created over Google Hangouts and organized through real-time collaboration in Google Docs. My contribution explores futuristic consumerism through eShopping in virtual reality dressing rooms. Excerpts from Henry David Thoreau’s Walden contrast digital desire.
